Colors of Pantelleria with Jérémy Bellina

About the Workshop: The workshop will take place over several days, giving participants space to learn step-by-step and enjoy the pace of island life on Pantelleria. Guided by ceramic artist Jeremy Bellina, the group will explore hand-building techniques and clay design, creating pieces inspired by the textures and atmosphere of the island.

Pantelleria is a unique place — volcanic, quiet, and naturally striking. Known for its dark stone landscape, thermal springs, and terraced fields, it offers a peaceful setting away from the busier parts of Sicily. The environment invites focus, connection, and a slower way of working and observing.

During the retreat, participants will also learn how to produce natural ash glazes using wood ashes from local plant material. These glazes will be applied to the pieces before firing on site, making each work closely tied to the location and the process.

This retreat offers a complete introduction to hand-building and glaze making, from forming the clay to finishing and firing. It is designed for anyone interested in ceramics, thoughtful craft, and spending time in a quiet, meaningful setting.

About the Artist — Jérémy Bellina

Jérémy Bellina is a French ceramic artist who developed and established his practice in Berlin before recently relocating to Lisbon, Portugal. Known for his contemporary approach to functional ceramics, he focuses on clean, graphic forms paired with tactile glaze work and subtle, organic irregularities. His pieces balance modern design with craft-driven character, often exploring surface texture and movement through thoughtful glaze experimentation.

Self-taught and deeply process-oriented, Jérémy’s practice grew from an instinctive interest in clay and evolved into a refined, recognizable body of work. During his time in Berlin, he became part of the city’s creative ceramic community and produced small-batch collections from his Neukölln studio.

Now based in Lisbon, Jérémy continues to expand his practice, focusing on small-scale, hands-on creation, material research, and sharing his approach through workshops and creative programs.
